Sanibowl Hygienic Ball Valves

The dead-space-free, piggable ball valves formerly known as Gulbinat. Patented seal technology reduces cleaning time by 40%.

Dead-space-free

Patented seal technology eliminates dead legs where bacteria can grow.

40% faster cleaning

Dead-space-free design reduces CIP time and cleaning chemical consumption.

CIP/SIP compatible

Designed for clean-in-place and sterilize-in-place procedures.

Easy maintenance

Few high-quality parts make maintenance and seal replacement fast.

What is dead-space-free?

In conventional ball valves, small gaps exist between the ball and the seals, creating "dead spaces" where product can accumulate and bacteria can grow. These areas are difficult to clean and can contaminate subsequent batches.

Trinox / Gulbinat's patented seal technology eliminates these dead spaces. The specially designed seals maintain continuous contact with the ball surface throughout its rotation, leaving no gaps where product can collect.

The result is a valve that's nearly 100% cleanable, reducing CIP times by up to 40% and virtually eliminating cross-contamination risk between batches.

How it works

The Trinox / Gulbinat ball valve uses a floating ball design with specially profiled PTFE seals. When the valve is pressurized, the seals are pushed against the ball with uniform force.

As the ball rotates, the seal profile maintains continuous contact, so there's never a gap between the seal and ball surface where product can accumulate.

Key design features:

  • Floating ball design
  • Profiled PTFE seals
  • Uniform seal loading
  • Continuous ball contact
  • Self-draining body

Materials & construction

Trinox / Gulbinat valves are manufactured from 316L stainless steel with electropolished product contact surfaces. All seals are FDA-approved PTFE suitable for food and pharmaceutical contact.

Every valve is manufactured in Switzerland on modern CNC machines, ensuring consistent quality and fast delivery times.

Connection options:

  • DIN 11851 (Dairy coupling)
  • Tri-Clamp (SMS, DIN 32676)
  • Butt-weld ends
  • Flanged (DIN, ANSI)

Frequently asked questions

Sanibowl is the product name for the dead-space-free hygienic ball valves made by TRINOX Engineering AG in Switzerland. The seal stays in continuous contact with the ball, so no product can settle inside the valve. Sanibowl valves come in 2-way and 3-way versions, are piggable, and can be supplied with PFAS-free seals on request. Tas & Company supplies Sanibowl valves in the Benelux.

Yes. The hygienic ball valves and pigging technology of Gulbinat Systemtechnik are continued by TRINOX Engineering AG, and the valve range now carries the Sanibowl name. If you have Gulbinat valves in your plant, you are looking for Sanibowl. Tas & Company supplies both the valves and the spare parts for existing Gulbinat installations.

The piggable 2-way valve is a shut-off valve: it gives a straight, unobstructed product flow through the pipe so a pig can pass. The piggable 3-way valve also diverts the product flow and can act as a pig stopper, which is why it is used in more complex and automated pigging systems.

Dead-space-free means there are no gaps or cavities where product can accumulate and bacteria can grow. Trinox / Gulbinat's patented seal technology maintains continuous contact with the ball surface, eliminating these problem areas.

Trinox / Gulbinat dead-space-free valves reduce CIP cleaning time by up to 40% compared to conventional ball valves. This also reduces water and chemical consumption significantly.

Trinox / Gulbinat valves are used in food & beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and chemical industries, anywhere hygienic product handling is required. They're particularly popular in dairy, brewing, and personal care production.

Trinox / Gulbinat valves are available with DIN 11851 dairy couplings, Tri-Clamp connections, butt-weld ends, and various flange standards. Custom connections can be manufactured to order.

Standard Trinox / Gulbinat ball valves are rated for 10 bar operating pressure. Higher pressure versions are available for specific applications. All valves are pressure tested before shipment.

Seal life depends on the application, but typical service intervals are 1-3 years. The simple design makes seal replacement quick and easy, often completed in under 30 minutes.
